Good morning. I can’t be there today as I’m interstate helping family, but I’m there in spirit.

Vale William.
I will always remember the first time we met in Ms Lee’s Year 12 3Unit English class at Port Moresby International High School – when you sauntered in on your first day back and flopped down in the seat beside me and asked, “so…how is the second best English student in the school today?” We became friends with of course.
I remember our literary debates, our friendly (but semi-serious) banter in who was going to be dux, the Year 7 camp at Sogeri where we were “minders” and of course the backgammon games in the common room. We went our separate ways post PNG, but you were always an important presence in my memories of an unusual and character building HSC year. My deepest condolences to William’s family and friends.
